'Food Kartel', the comical DJ who has been making waves on the entertainment circuit recently, was put before the court in Falmouth, Trelawny for two counts of carnal abuse.
Courtney Broughton, 39, was charged by the Clarke's Town police for allegedly having intercourse with a then stepdaughter when she was four years old and again when she was nine years old. Courtney 'Food Kartel' Broughton was then in a relationship with the child's mother, and the family resided in Trelawny.
But the DJ's attorney said the relationship between the child's mother and her client ended in 2006, and that the DJ was "traumatised" by the allegations recently raised.
The child made a report to her mother earlier this month and when Broughton, of a St Ann address, heard that he was being sought by the Police, he turned himself in.
He was granted bail in the sum of $250,000.
Food Kartel gave a stunning performance at the recently staged Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay.
